Helping Yourself Get Better In this section of my website you will find easy-to-understand self-help programs. I have created this section for individuals who are interested in helping themselves get better without the direct assistance of a counsellor. There are a multitude of reasons for selecting this self-help option and I'm sure you have yours. I, too, understand the value of self-analysis and therefore support your courageous efforts. Self-help - a definition: "Self-help means to grasp our potentialities, discover our resources, accept responsibility for our life and live it in the way we ourselves decide. Self-help means starting a process of change - from being a passive recipient to becoming an active participant in one’s own life" (The Norwegian Self-help Forum, 1999). Self-help Programs: (coming soon) Career Planning -- Through this step-by -step program you will gain an in-depth understanding of yourself in relation to your workstyle preferences, aptitude, values, and interests. In addition to discovering your ideal career, you will also develop the necessary job search strategies to secure that "ideal" job. Addiction -- Through this program you will understand the underlying factors supporting your addiction and learn ways to address them. Stress Management -- Through this program you will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to enable yourself to cope with and, more importantly, reduce the stress in your life.
